Last month at IANDS in Chicago, I met Dr. Raymond A. Moody, who coined the term “near-death experience” (NDE). Fifty years after his landmark book Life After Life first opened hearts and minds to new dimensions, he remains an inspiration.
At IANDS, I found the courage to talk with him about our experience and inquire about the term: “shared near-death experience” (SNDE). Dr. Moody listened with warmth and thoughtful curiosity, and when he nodded, saying the concept made sense, it was like receiving a blessing from a kindred spirit. I later learned that Dr. Moody had used the SNDE term in his 1999 book The Last Laugh. And now, it’s gaining recognition due to our SNDE experience!
That encounter with Dr. Moody is a memory I will always treasure! The background of me with Dr. Raymond Moody and his wonderful wife, Cheryl, reflects how out-of-this-world meeting them both felt!
